Is Calcutta university is good for b.tech
Hello Sahil Raza,
Calcutta University has started 4 years B.tech course since 2015(through WBJEE). years BSc-B.Tech course also exists here. Let me introduce you to some of the important aspects of an engineering collage and compare CU according to that:
1.Faculty-The faculty members or the professors here are extremely qualified and put immense effort to conduct classes on regular basis. They will provide you with necessary notes and all types of guidance required for competitive examinations.
2.Laboratory-The labs are well equipped and well maintained, funded by TEQIP. Lab classes are held regularly and you can make the most of it. Seminars are also conducted frequently, where eminent speakers deliver presentations.
3. Industrial Training and Internships- The collage authorities will arrange for one industrial training after the 5th semester(for 1.5 month). However if you want to attend more such training or internships you have to take your own initiative. The authorities might give recommendations for that but you will have to arrange for more.
4.Placement Cell- We have a placement officer but not a very large placement cell organisation. Placements take place mainly with the sole initiative of Professors and department Hods. CU has alumni all over the world with many of them holding top posts in MNCs. This is a great advantage for the students as it draws companies from varies parts of the country.
5. Entrepreneur Cell - CU doesn't have a proper E-Cell.
6. Environment-CU has a student friendly environment. Political interference, student union or any other disturbances don't effect the engineering section much. You get good Hostel, gym, canteen facilities. Each campus of CU has well equipped libraries with a central library and also separate departmental libraries.
Thanku.
