Both these positions differ and their duties vary up to large extent. So do their powers, responsibilities and training schedule. Depending on the circumstance, IAS and CBI are both the most powerful positions. The most prominent officers in India are known as IAS officers, and they are deserving of all privileges. On the other side, CBI officers are the ones who have the authority to conduct a search warrant at an IAS officer's home, place of business, and other private property. If necessary, the CBI may even suspend an IAS officer. IAS officers in starting are just limited to the district only and as their rank improves, they can go up to secretary level at the central government.
