Is commerce students eligible for IAS officer?
Hey! Of course yes!
As long as you have a graduate degree in a certified subject and are above 21 years of age, you are eligible for UPSC CsSE, i.e. you can become an IAS officer. In fact you don’t even have to choose commerce as your optional subject necessarily, you can choose any optional subject of your choice, regardless of whether or not you have studied it before.
All the best for your future pursuits.

Hi Deekshita,
Absolutely! There is no boundation of stream set by the UPSC. Candidates regardless of whichever background or field or stream they belong to, are eligible for becoming an IAS officer. Moreover, you must hold a graduate degree from any recognised university and there are different age limits and attempts for different categories. The minimum age limit is 21 and the maximum age varies. For general category and EWS, it is 32, for OBC, it is 35 and for SC/ST , it is 37.
Hope it helps.
All the best.
