Yes, it is equivalent. You can also go to the respective University board of your college and get a 12th equivalence certificate from them. All the diploma holders are considered 12th equivalent. And also, you are eligible for most of the examinations and courses that are for 12th pass candidates. For example, GTU in Gujarat is the board of polytechnic engineering and after the completion of diploma, they provide equivalence certificate.

Yes, Polytechnic is equivalent 10+2 but yes it is a 3 year long course so you spend 1 year more in case of diploma.

The diploma courses after 10th are industry focused and offer hands-on training in the respective field so that seeking jobs become easier,so  diploma has a upper hand over 10+2.

Also , if you go for Engineering after diploma then you can go for lateral entry and you will have to spend only 3 years instead of 4 year.

The BSEB (Bihar School Education Board) has approved a proposal to make two-year ITI diploma awarded by ITI will be considered equivalent to 12th.

The latest approval will allow ITI pass outs to pursue degree courses and appear for various competitive exams that require Class 12 certificate.
