Is ews applicable only in govt medical colleges

Dear Srija, EWS is a reservation that is applicable across all ademic and Employment sectors. Regarding Medical Colleges, every Government Medical College will follow 10% EWS reservation as this is a Government ruling. Abd MCC had also approved increase of seats accordingly to accomodate EWS reservation. Now coming to the Private Medical Colleges part, not many agreed to this reservation because it eats into their Management Quota. And that is the main source of fees for Private Medical Colleges. And not every Private Medical College qualifies for EWS reservation due to infrastructure or recognition issues. For example in Telangana, though therr are 22 Private Medical Colleges, only 15 were willing to accomodate this reservation. Only 10 Private Medical Colleges qualify to accomodate EWS reservation. So though Private Medical Colleges also have to accomodate it, not every Private Medical College qualifies for the same.

Dear student, In article 15 of the Constitution, after clause (5), the following clause shall be inserted, namely:
(6) Nothing in this article or sub-clause (g) of clause (1) of article 19 or clause (2) of article 29 shall prevent the State from making, any special provision for the advancement of any economically weaker sections of citizens other than the classes mentioned in clauses (4) and (5) in so far as such special provisions relate to their admission to educational institutions including private educational institutions, whether aided or unaided by the State, other than the minority educational institutions referred to in clause (1) of article 30, which in the case of reservation would be in addition to the existing reservations and subject to a maximum of ten per cent of the total seats in each category.
That means even in private institutions also this reservation is applicable.
All the best
Hope this helps
