Dear student,
The ews certificate is not compulsory for jee mains. But if you belong to ews category and wish to take the advantages of being a reserved category then you need an ews certificate of central government issued by the competent authorities. But if you don't have an ews certificate then even you can apply for jee mains, but you will be considered as a general category student.
