Hello,

A gap certificate is usually requested during the intake process if you had a gap in your education. Educational institutions want to know why you had the gap in your education and, most importantly, whether you were engaged in any specific practice that would make you unfit or ineligible to be included in the program.

The gap certificate, which has to mention the period of the gap, the cause of the gap, if one has to provide personal reasons for work experience or to make ready for competitive exams, it would have been issued by an authority recognized and like that of a school or college. Your gap situation definitely must have good reason which you are capable of clearly giving, as institutions often judge applications with respect to the record of your education. Consequently, if you have had some break in your studies, acquiring a gap certificate will help minimize the admission process hitches.
