First you need to understand why Gate score is given when we have Gate marks in hand to compare. Remember Gate score card is valid for 3 years. In order to compare between candidates of different years you cannot use Gate marks or Gate rank as the level of competition changes every year. So Gate score is given which remains the same in 3 years of its validity. To calculate Gate score is not so easy as it takes lot of factors into account.
