Hello,there is two category basically,HS(Home State) and OS(other state).This is a major factor in getting an admission in to NITs and IIITs but there is no such category in IIT.They don't bother about which state you are from.I hope you get it.

The home state quota and other state quota is only for admission into National Institute of Technology. For India Institute of Technology and Indian Institute of Information Technology ,there is no home state quota or other state quota .

Yes, both the Home State and Other State Quota are different. There is a provision of Home State Quota in case of NITs, IIITs and GFTIs but not in IITs. You cannot use Home State Quota at IITs because not every state has an IIT.
Privilege of a Home State Quota means that in JEE Mains, a candidate belonging to the Home State will get preference over other candidates in his or her home state university.
