The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) are public business schools owned by the central government that offer undergraduate, postgraduate, doctorate, and executive programmes, as well as other business administration courses . Jawaharlal Nehru, India's first prime minister, sponsored the establishment of IIMs on the proposal of the Planning Commission of India.
