Is IIT Guwahati good for masters in structural engineering???
Answer (1)
Hello aspirant,
I would say yes. IIT-Guwahati has one of the best campus in India. It is an amazing peaceful place.
Civil Engineering Department at Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati is one of the most vibrant departments of the institute with largest number of faculty and students. Structural Engineering is one of the five specializations offered by the department, and earthquake engineering is one of the primary focuses within this specialization. Faculty members are also working in other research areas related to structural mechanics, fracture mechanics, finite element analysis, durability of structures, construction management and non-destructive testing.
For civil branch (M.tech) this year placements were really good specifically for Structure , Infrastructure and Transport branch. Almost everyone got placed in these 3 branches with an avg package of around 6 lpa in companies like L&T, KEC, ASC Infratech etc.
The good thing with Structure branch is that if you are in top 5 or 6 students of your class then there is Almost 100 % possibility of you getting placed in a good core company irrespective of success rate of placement season for that particular year.
All the best :)
