Is IPU better than DU? Please Explain in Details
Hey,
inderprastha university is not at all better than Delhi University. Delhi University is the best university in the country and is much better than ipu in all terms. It gives a lot more exposure and opportunities to the students. Also the faculty is well experienced and helpful. Delhi University is also the most popular university.
Dear Student,
Well, actually, you cannot compare both of them. Yes, GGSIPU and DU can’t be compared as both of them offer completely different courses. DU doesn’t offer professional courses like B.Tech, BBA and BCA etc. while GGSIPU doesn’t offer English (H), Hindi (H) and Economics (H) etc. for undergraduates.
Thus, if the courses aren’t the same, how can we think of comparisons? If a student wants to pursue B.Tech in Delhi, no matter how BETTER DU is, he cannot consider it as his/her choice and the same goes with GGSIPU in the case of English (H) and other subjects and courses.
Note 1: Some people have wrongly mentioned GGSIPU as a “private” institution (which is a wrong statement), as GGSIPU is a Delhi Government’s institution with the Honourable Leutinent Governer of Delhi’s presence in convocations and felicitations (in the capacity of the Chancellor of the university).
Thus, GGSIPU is a Delhi Government’s institution while DU is an institution aided by Central Government primarily.
So, my answer would be: “How, in the world, can you compare two institutions which offer completely different courses and are aided by completely different organizations on different scales?”, which is a counter-question to the one who has asked the answer.
Note 2: Some courses like MBA are offered by both the universities and here DU weighs more.
Note 3: Courses like MBBS are offered mutually by both the universities with the help of each other (for more information, see the relevant prospectus on Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University.
Also, the admission process isn’t the same as DU admits students on the basis of them clearing the cutoff percentages with the help of their CBSE/AISSE examinations while GGSIPU conducts IPU-Common Entrance Test for each courses.
The fee structure is different too! While, DU has, approximately, the same fees throughout the colleges, GGSIPU has approximately the same fees throughout the colleges situated in its university campus while the fee structure of Affiliated Institutions (these ones are “private”, but still get the degree similar to anyone in GGSIPU, thus no difference), the fee is setup by State’s Fee Regulation Committee which is same throughout the affiliated institutions.
Therefore, I’d request you to stop comparing two institutions which are completely different in every aspect.
Note: There are some courses here and there offered by both the colleges but each of them has a upper hand in different courses of different fields over another, offered by them, which is, again, not an honest, sufficient and unbiased parameter to compare both of them.
Hope I have made myself clear.
Best Wishes!
