Hello,

If you will do diploma after 12th then also you can appear in JEE mains but you wont be able to get admission based on jee mains but if you will crack jee mains then you can appear in jee advance and if you will get a good rank then you can get into IITs.
On the other gand if you will study 12tg then you can appear in jee mains and if you will get goo rank then you can get into top NITs and also you can appear for JEE advance.
So, overall just a one difference will be there.

I hope this helps.

Hey there !

Dear aspirant,

If you are pursuing poly diploma in any branch engg. or completed the diploma and wants to take admission in the Btech degree course ,so you will be admitted as the lateral entry student in 2nd year of btech.

But it is not compulsory to do the 12th for diploma students ,because if you hadn`t given the 12th exam ,then also you are eligible for the lateral entry in btech course without giving 12th.

eligibility for lateral entry in btech :

  • 10th class passed from recognised board
  • completed diploma from recognised university in any branch with certain minimum aggregated marks in diploma which may vary with institute.

But in future it might be needed or some of the companies demand for the 12th mark while campus placement,so in my suggestion you should complete your 12th as well side by side.

Through lateral entry you can not get admission in the IIT,IIIT,NIT institutes because there is no option of lateral entry.

But some of the government and private institutes give the option for lateral entry in btech through the counselling on the basis of merit list according to the aggregated marks in diploma and through the entrance exam (it depends on institute criteria).

So you directly go and check on the official site of institute you wants to join.

And here is list  of exam conducted by the states or institutes from admission in some government and private bodies in lateral btech;-

  • Calicut University Lateral Entry Entrance Exams
  • AIEEE All India Engineering Entrance Exams

  • Delhi Technical University Lateral Entry Entrance Examination

  • Kerala University Lateral Entry Exam

  • KIIT University Lateral Entry Entrance Examination

  • Lateral Entry Entrance Test LEET

  • LPU NEAT (National Engineering Aptitude Test)

  • MIT-Manipal BE Lateral Entry Entrance Exam

  • Mumbai University Lateral Entry Entrance Examination

  • Punjab Technical University Lateral Entry Entrance Test (PTU LEET)

  • UKSEE B.Tech (Lateral Entry) Entrance Exam

  • Uttarakhand Technical University Lateral Entry Entrance Test

  • West Bengal University Joint Entrance Exam for Lateral Entry (JELET)

now coming up to the jee mains exam:-

Yes offcourse you can give the JEE MAINS exam , if you are eligible for it.

basic eligibility:-

if you had passed the 12th in last two years of appearing in the exam(Example: JEEmains exam of 2020 so you must have passed 12th in 2018or 2019 not before that) or pursuing currently .

But the point to be noted is that ,if give the JEE Mains and wants admission on the basis of it you will get admission from the first year only in any institute.

Not in lateral entry through jee main.

Now its all your decision what actually you wants to do.

hope this will help you

good luck!

Yes you will be eligible to take admission directly into engineering colleges. You don't need to give 12th boards exams. Your third year diploma marks will ensure your admission according to the cutoffs into engineering colleges. Till last year 20% seats were reserved but from this year it has been only 10% so the competition has increased so you need to excel well in your diploma course tooo. You also don't need to write any competitive entrance exams like JEE, cet, etc.

Best wishes. Thank you.

Hey,

After 10th, you can go for diploma from polytechnic College. Diploma is considered to be equivalent to 12th.  So, you will not have to give 12th boards.

After diploma, you can get admissions in IITs, but not in NITs. Also, there is no lateral entry in IITs, so after diploma, you will have to give JEE and than take admission in IIT. You will get admission from 1st year only.

But, there are a number of Universities like MSU, GTU, MHU that provide direct lateral entry in 2nd year of engineering to diploma students. You can also apply and get admission on the basis of merit.

If you do 11/12 after 10th, then the process will be as usual. You will have to give JEE and get admission in engineering College.

Also, scope of diploma is good as well. There is no difference in engineering course after diploma or after 12th. You will be in same class as regular students.

Hope this helps!
