It is an average college. They provide a placement of about 50–60%. But, if you are going to take admissions in CSE, IT, ECE, you won’t face much problem to get a job (on-campus, off-campus), and if you take up EE, AEIE, it will be a bit difficult to get a job. College doesn’t bring core companies as such.
If you are joining in a college by looking only at the placement count in that year then your first step went wrong because who knows the situation after 4 years(at the time of completion of btech). No one can tell what happens next year, so dont depend only on placements see all the factors that matters like staff, curricular or technical stuff, extracurricular activities, clubs, events, ratings and most important is alumina.
