Is it compulsory to give an entrance exam if you want to take admission in another state?

It depends on the college and course you are applying for. Each college has its own admission process. Few give admission on basis of merit in qualifying exam while few other colleges conduct entrance exam in which candidates from that state and from other state need to appear. So you are requested to check the admission process before applying.
