Is it enough learn NCERT and solve many MCQs and previous year papers for preparing organic chemistry for NEET? How much can I score?

In order to score a good marks in the NEET 2019 examination, you should read NCERT books of Physics, Chemistry & Biology of class 11th & 12th at least 2 or 3 times for basics, your basics should be very clear upto class 12th. After that HC Verma for Physics (part -1&2), Biology by Trueman (volume-1&2) and Pradeep Guide on Biology, OP Tendon for Physical & Inorganic Chemistry, and Organic Chemistry of "Arihant Publication" for detail or extra knowledge. You should also try to solve the previous years question papers, this helps too much and you should also give the mock test to rectify yourself and build your confidence level.

For preparation of exam, the most important thing is your confidence after that you should know the whole syllabus and make your plan properly for learning new chapters, solving the numericals and revision. All three things should be the part of your preparation strategy in daily routine.

The main thing is that you have to build your concentration level, then only you can stay focused on your goal. I would like to say that please limit the study time between 10 to 12 hours and please increase your concentration and speed of reading, understanding and solving the problems then you will not face any kind of difficulty.

Well.Organic Chemistry is the the scoring part in NEET examination after Biology and if your concept is clear you may complete this section in less time and give more time on other sections.

Now coming to your question,NCERT is the first thing that you must be thorough with when it comes to NEET be it for Biology,Chemistry or Physics.

NCERT Organic Chemistry is the base and you got to be thorough with it and then only you should refer to some other books.If you are able to understand every concept of it and apply those concepts in the questions,then you are going on the right track.

NCERT Organic Chemistry introduces you with the concepts important for NEET but to understand those topics well you need to go for reference books. Especially  for parts like Reaction Mechanism and General Organic Chemistry which is the core of this subject,you should go through reference books as well.

For exams like NEET time is quite precious for you,so stick to NCERT and one good reference book which contains lots of MCQs like OP Tondon's Organic Chemistry.Solve questions.The more you solve the more clear you are to become with that topic.And it will help you manage your time well in the final exam.And,Solving previous years questions always helps.

To be frank, NCERT is not sufficient for Organic Chemistry. However all named reactions come from NCERT only. I would suggest you to study General Organic Chemistry (GOC) from GRB Organic Chemistry/Cengage Organic Chemistry. Then from Hydrocarbon onwards till amines, NCERT reactions are sifficient to solve atleast 70-80 percent of the organic chemistry questions asked in NEET. But please keep the GOC part strong because only then you can solve questions related to stability order, acidic strength, basic strength, mechanisms etc. but these topics are not properly dealt in NCERT Book.



For MCQ practise, purchase Organic Chemistry MCQ Book By MS Chouhan. Also practise previous year NEET questions of Organic Chemistry.
