It depends on your will and confidence. If you are determined to join only IIMs, then there is no point in going for other exams. Doing aMBA from IIMs carry the value associated with the well established "IIM" brand and definitely helps you. But let me tell you that, not every IIM is the same. IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore and IIM Calcutta lead in the rankings among all the management institutes in India. Other IIMs following these are IIM Lucknow, IIM Kozhikode, IIM Indore and then IIM Shillong which has fairly established itself as a good IIM. Other IIMs are categorized as New IIMs and Baby IIMs. New IIMs are those which were founded in 2010 and 2011 and all the IIMs which were founded after 2015 are called Baby IIMs. There are other management institutes in India which rank higher than New and Baby IIMs which you may not want to miss out. Some of them do consider the CAT scores, however, many have their own entrance exams. Following are some other top management institutes and the entrance exams conducted by them:
Institutes considering CAT scores for admission:
1. Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi
2. SP Jain Institute of Management and Research
Institutes with separate entrance examination for admission:
3. Symbiosis Institute of Business Management (SNAP)
4. Narsee Monji Institute of Management Studies (NMAT)
5. MICA, Ahmedabad (MICAT)
Above are some of the top institutes other than IIMs which you can consider applying for. When you prepare for CAT examination, you also prepare for all these entrance examinations as the syllabus for all the management entrance exams is almost the same. However, the post entrance exam process is different for different institutes. IIMs have Written Ability Test (WAT)/ Analytical writing Test (AWT - only for IIM Ahmedabad) and Personal Interviews after the CAt exam for the selection of candidates for admissions. Other institutes have similar Written Ability Tests, Personal Interviews or Group Interviews, Group Discussions and other different forms of processes. You don't need to worry about those at this stage. Once you get interview calls, you will get enough time to prepare for these. So, consider these exams along with CAT if you are not very determined to go only for IIMs.

Hello Thanakanti,
My personal opinion as a former CAT aspirant would be NO. If you are preparing for a management entrance exam like CAT, you are inevitably preparing for exams like IIFT, XAT, and others. So why would you appear for CAT and miss the others? The strategy for each exam is surely different. But the base remains the same.
So, if you are appearing for an exam like CAT, you would surely want to consider other exams like IIFT, XAT, SNAP, TISSNET, CMAT, and MAHCET. Please do not commit the mistake of missing out on all the other exams. I have seen many aspirants doing that and repenting later on.
CAT is one of the best exam for MBA. It is a tough exam. You can give other entrance exam for MBA as there will be an alternative . There are many other exams for MBA.
