Hey Saurav,
CET has a brand value created by their alumni which helps in bringing in good minds into its student pool. This in turns improves their academic standards and CETs graduates are competent. I do not know whether the teaching standards at CET are different when compared to another institution. Note that there are outliers in both directions. I was really good in some subjects and CET gave me a good platform in exploring it to its best. I do not think the research platform in CET is the best at least when I graduated. Further the campus is politically active which I think is a great plus point. As a 2005 graduate I feel that it's mine and my collegemates success which will dictate whether CET is overrated or underrated in future. As of now I know some IAS, IPS, IRS, CEOs, Scientist, politicians etc in my CET friends circle. I do not think this makes CET the best institutions in Kerala but judging based on the performance of alumni who graduated in 60s to 80s it may be one of good tech institution in Kerala. Finally, whether it is underrated or overrated depends on what you think is the perceived rating of CET.
