is IT good or Cse group is good for engineering.
Hello Harsh Vardhan,
Well the answer is there is no branch that is good or bad, these are very relative terms, and people judge a branch the placement offers they hear about the students from that branch. Since the back 3 years, we have been listening to how CSE students got placed in dream companies such as that of Google and Apple and got a package of 1.5 crores! Therefore from that aspect, CSE is a better branch. CSE branch deals with whole of the digital part, including Microprocessors, software, programming, assembling, designing and everything. They design as well as implement on hardware.
While in the case of IT people, much of there curriculum is associated with the coding part, for which their domains get restricted, because of this their job spectrum gets reduced, following which their placement opportunities get reduced. Whereas CSE people deal with each and everything, so their job opportunities are more. They can sit for companies who want coders, as well as managing people, microchip designer, assembler, etc ...
Therefore from placement point of view, you can consider CSE being better than IT.
Another aspect is that, in case you wish to go for higher studies CSE being a core branch, you can appear for GATE and other exams through this branch. IT being a sub-domain or subset of CSE, you will have a problem, to come to the level of CSE people for such competitive exams.
Apart from these, the syllabus for IT people is highly specific, even the common subjects will have different syllabus, i.e. syllabus of IT will always be easier than the CSE group.
Finally, you will get more opportunities through CSE than in IT. CSE branch is available in most of the colleges, but IT isn't. Also, there is more pressure on CSE seats than IT seats.
The subjects of CSE include mainly Data Structures Algorithms, Digital Logics and Designs, etc. You may view the syllabus of respective branches on the internet. There is more competition in the CSE group due to limited jobs, but very high candidates.
So this was the basic difference between CSE and IT. For your answer I would say, CSE is definitely better than IT, provided you consider only placement aspect. It is also good, considering future opportunities. IT is better than CSE if you want deep learning of given subjects, and want less pressure and competition.
Hope this helps,
Regards
Hi,
Well both are good but CSE is preferred more by students because it covers more broder aspects than just coding. You will have extra subjects in cse touching upon electronics part also such as microprocessors and microcontrollers. IT Companies dont differentiate much though so both IT and CSE students will be offered same job profiles.
