Is it good to prefer top iit with lower branches or lower iits with top branch

IIT'S are one of the reputed colleges in India. Lower branches does mean the lower cutoff marks. In general you must prefer the branch you are interested in as the placement depends upon your performance but as top IIT have good placement offers and many top companies recruit the students no matter of the branch.

Whereas the other IIT may recruit minimum students.So it should totally depends on your choice of interest in the branch as getting recruited in the company always depends on your performance.

It depends.  See if one is deeply intrested in a branch then he should opt for the same.

Now advantage of older IITs is that more number of companies and good ones visit there.  Suppose you have choice of Metallurgy in Bombay and CSE in tirupati. It's obivious that more number of companies will visit bomabay over tirupati. And if IIT bombay allows as branch to appear for Good IT comapny then, in this case Bombay metallurgy will be benificial as you will get more chances for placement.  But disadvantage is that you have to prepare everything by your own. You have tp do coding by own and manage metallurgy of class too. But in tirupati you will be taught CSE only.

So, I would advise before taking admission enquire from senior of older IITs, if college allows lower branches to appear for good IT companies for placement or not. If yoes then join Older IITs if not than go for newer one.
