HELLO AKASH,

Healthcare and Pharma are set to grow in the coming years with latest advancements in the technologies being rapidly adapted into them. For example, FitBit is a wearable device concept that marries IOT + Healthcare, and is now a Billion Dollar company. Similarly Tele-medicine, AR are going to play major role in revamping the Healthcare Sector. Drug administration, clinical trails are about to see paradigm shift.

You can focus on those areas to improve your skill set, especially in chip-design and embedded device programming. You can review some of the Healthcare Solution case-studies [1] to get more detailed view on what is happening in the industry.

The Health Care industry has been growing at a rapid pace in the past few years. With an annual growth rate of 30%.The Indian Healthcare Industry is estimated at US$22 billion and the Medical device market is estimated at US $ 1.85 billion and growing at 15% per annum. Thus with the rapid pace of growth comes the ever increasing demand for highly skilled and well trained Medical Electronics Engineering work force

Career Prospects

Biomedical engineering is one of the recognized professional career options made by students in India. Biomedical engineers and technologists can seek employment in various industries such as hospitals, medical institutions, manufacturing units, medical equipment, government agencies and pharmaceuticals. Biomedical engineers develop modified devices and provide advice for handling and maintaining medical equipments. Individuals also can seek employment in medical equipment companies as technical advisers.

There are ample opportunities for biomedical engineers in the field of research and development at research institutes, government agencies in India, universities and other abroad countries. Biomedical engineers are employed in various companies such as Larsen & Toubro, BPL, Wipro Medical and Siemens into their R&D section or into sales and marketing, depending on their skills and preferences. Professionals in this career can also opt for teaching jobs in universities and colleges. There are lots of job opportunities available in India as well as in foreign countries.

Thanks

Hello Aspirant!

Medical Electronics engineers develop devices and procedures that solve medical and health-related problems by combining their knowledge of biology and medicine with engineering principles and practices. Many do research, along with life scientists, chemists, and medical scientists, to develop and evaluate systems and products such as artificial organs, prostheses (artificial devices that replace missing body parts),

instrumentation, medical information systems, and health management and care delivery systems. Medical Electronics engineers also design devices used in various medical procedures, imaging systems such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and devices for automating insulin injections or controlling body functions.

Hope this helps you :)
