is it hard get admission in ba/ma English honors ??? please reply
Hi.
No it is not hard to get admission into courses like BA and MA. Admissions to BA courses are done on the basis of the score in the entrance exam and the interview round , conducted by the respective Universities. There are several entrance exams such as BHU-UET, IPU-CET, TISSBAT, JNUEE, NPAT etc, that a candidate can apply for based on the college he/she wants to apply.
The entrance exam that you will give will depend on the college/university you wish to take admission in. Eligibility criteria for BA is as follows:
- Students must clear their class 12th board exam from a recognised board / University
- Must have minimum 50% aggregate marks in Class 12 board examination
- Colleges offer 5% relaxation in the aggregate marks for students from SC / ST background
Eligibility criteria for MA is as follows:
- Candidates should have successfully completed their Bachelor's degree (preferably Bachelor of Arts) of a minimum 3 or 4 years duration (10+2+3 or 10+2+4). The Bachelor's degree should be from a university that is recognized by the UGC (University Grants Commission) of India.
- A minimum of 50% or its equivalent must be secured by the students at the graduation level. The cutoff varies from college to college. It could be 55% or 60% as well.
- There’s a 5% relaxation for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBCs and differently-abled categories.
- Students who are in their final year of their Bachelor's degree are also eligible to apply.

Hi,
The average cut off marks for the eligibility of the entrance tests are mentioned below:
University of Calcutta: 50% in BA English Honours
Jadavpur University: 55% in BA English Honours
University of Delhi: 45% in BA English Honours, or 50% in BA General.
JNU: 55% in Honours in any subject.
You must get at least 60 percent in bachelor course . It doesn't matter which course you did and are doing . After that, you have to paas exam of M.A in English .
Hope this helps
Wish you luck
See there are a lot of colleges which offers the course. So its not hard to get the course but to get the course in a good college or university is tough. The competition is very high. Be it merit wise or entrance you need to compete in order to get the course because the course is a very preferred one. So if you wish to go for average colleges it will be relatively easier to get in but the competition is here.
If you are open to learn and you have the appetite of learning then average or good doesn't matter. But if you wish to get a good infrastructure some good faculties then in most good universities you will get such teachers but in average colleges there are few good teachers. So this way you get some preferences in good universities or colleges.
