To get admission to B.Des in National Institute of Fashion Technology you need to appear for NIFT entrance examination conducted by NIFT. The entrance exam is conducted in three phases
- Creative Ability Test (CAT)
- General Ability Test (GAT)
- Situation Test
For admission to B.Des course you need to appear for both CAT and GAT. SO it is mandatory that you appear for both CAT and GAT. If you qualify in CAT and GAT you will have to appear for Situation Test.

yes you are required to appear for the exams, CAT and GAT, in order to avail admission for pursuing the course of Bachelor's of Design at NIFT. The two exams, Creative Ability Test and General Ability Test, are two different types of exams, one testing the creative ability of the candidate and the other testing the general ability of the candidate. With the help of the score of both the tests, the conducting body decides which candidates are provided a seat at the institute. The weightage for each are,
- CAT : 50%
- GAT : 30%
- Situation test : 20%
