Hello,

If you want to become a police detective then yes it is necessary to become a police officer first. The only way to become a police detective is to work as a police officer, pass a test, and earn promotion to detective through the department. But if you don't want to become a police officer and still want to peruse career as a detective then you can become a private detective PI. Then get licensed most states require you to be licensed as a private detective or investigator, so check out the requirements of your state. Some states have far more requirements than others.

Hi Yash,

No,it not necessary candidates who want to become a detective you need to complete your graduation in any discipline. Then only they can pursue private detective course in any reputed institute or detective agency. After completing this course, they will become eligible to apply for job in any reputed detective agency.

Hope this helps!!

All the best!!
