Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences was established in the year 2006 and is located in Hassan,
Karnataka. It is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences.
Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences offers the MBBS, B.Sc. (Nursing) and Pc B.Sc. (Nursing)
courses at the under graduate level and MD and M.Sc. (Nursing) courses at the post graduate
level. It also offers Paramedical courses under 4 specializations.
Candidates applying to the MBBS and B.Sc. courses are required to have completed 10 +
2 studies with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English as compulsory subjects and to
have secured minimum 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects.
Seats to the MBBS course at the college will be allotted by the counselling process
conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority, on the basis of candidates’
performance in the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET).
Candidates who are holders of an MBBS degree and who have completed one-year of
rotary internship and have registered with the Medical Council of India (MCI), are
eligible to apply for the MD courses at HIMS.
50% of the total available seats for the MD course will be filled up based on performance
in the State Entrance Examination, called as the Post Graduate Entrance Test (PGET),
which will be conducted by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences.
The rest 50% of the seats will be filled on the basis of an All India Entrance Examination
conducted by Director General of Health Services, (Medical Examination Cell) New Delhi.
Candidates holds B.Sc. degree in Nursing are eligible to apply for the M.Sc. (Nursing)
course at HIMS.
Candidates who have completed their 10th standard examinations or equivalent are
eligible to apply for the Diploma courses at HIMS.
Diploma course seats will be filled through the counselling process which will be
conducted at the state level by the paramedical board.
Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences offers the MBBS and B.Sc. (Nursing) courses at the
under graduate level. The MBBS course will be taught over a span of five-year and the
B.Sc. (Nursing) course will be taught over a span of four-year.
The minimum eligibility for both the courses is a pass in 2nd year PUC or 10+2
examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology as compulsory subjects and English as one
of the subjects and have obtained minimum 50% marks (40% for SC / ST / OBC
candidates) in Physics, Chemistry and Biology in the 10+2 board examinations. For Pc
B.Sc. (Nursing), candidate must pass in Diploma in GNM or PUC examination or 10+2 or
other equivalent examination.
Admission to the MBBS course is done through KCET entrance examination, conducted
at the state level. While admission to B.Sc. and Pc B.Sc. is done on the basis of merit in
the qualifying examination.
