Is it necessary to study History and General Science for the JMI BA(geography) entrance exam ??

The entrance exam for BA hons. Geography in JMI consists of the following steps:-
1. Geography Theory 35
2. Geography Practical 10
3. General Studies 40
4. Interview 15
-----Total 100
The syllabus for Geography Theory is:-
Part-I (Physical Geography) [Marks 10]
Lithosphere: Solar System, Origin of the earth, interior of the earth, landforms, rocks,
weathering.
Atmosphere: Structure and composition, elements of weather: temperature, pressure,
precipitation, humidity, winds.
Hydrosphere: Ocean relief, ocean currents, tides, salinity.
Part –II (Human and Economic Geography) [Marks 10]
Population: growth and distribution; Economic activities: primary, secondary, tertiary and
quaternary; human settlements: types and patterns; resources: types and classification,
distribution of water, mineral and energy resources; industries: classification and distribution
of manufacturing industries.
Part –III (Geography of India) [Marks 15]
Relief, drainage, climate, soils, natural vegetation, population distribution, coal, petroleum,
iron, textile industry, iron and steel industry.
The syllabus for Geography Practical is:-
Data: types, collection; measures of central tendency; measure of dispersion, geographical
representation of data, scales, map projections.
And, the syllabus for General Studies is:-
General knowledge and current affairs
So, there is no need of studying History and General Science for the JMI BA(geography) entrance exam.
