Dear Jaswanth, Yes, it may prove a good course of action to drop for another one year and thoroughly prepare for medical entrance exam, but there are some points in this regard which should be considered by a student before again utilizing one more year for the preparation of medical entrance.

In my opinion, these following points should be kept in view before taking such a decision:-

Will your parents really appreciate your decision :

In many cases it is generally observed that the parents want their child to be a doctor, and in such circumstances they consider that it is the responsibility of their child to realise their dreams for her. But some times it may happen that the child is not really interested in becoming a doctor or it may be possible that the child do not have the required potential to qualify such big examinations.

If we consider the other case, then it may be possible that a student dreams to be a doctor, and his or her parents respect his or her dreams. But slowly and gradually they realise the true potential of the child, and in their opinion, the student may work very hard but then also he or she would lag behind in such big competitive exams. There may be better options available for that student and he or she must consider that options once, before blindly running for the fulfillment of his or her desire.

In other words, in my opinion you must consult your parents and should try to give them a view of your actual condition, then they would definitely advice you and considering their advice you must take the final decision.

Personal interests and potential of the candidate :

This point has great significance for any individual. You must deeply think and analyse what you want to do in your life.

Many students opt for medical stream because it may be a trend at that time (maximum students were selecting this stream) or because all of their friends were opting for this stream. Same is the case with medical field, many students go for this field because their friends are moving into this sector or we can simply call it peer pressure.

So, i would suggest you that please consider your inner desire. Do not take any decision hastily and take your time before deciding any course of action.

And another important point is that realize your own potential and then decide would you be able to face all the hurdles which would obstruct your way while pursuing the course of action.

All the best

Hope this helps
