KVPY SB stream is for the candidates who are seeking to appear for KVPY in their 1st year of BSc program and this stream consists of syllabus from Class X, Class XI, Class XII and 1st year of college. So, yes if you want to score good marks in KVPY you need to prepare for the 1st year syllabus as well, don't worry it would not be difficult as 1st year syllabus of any UG degree is related to the syllabus of 12th class only.
