If you really want to earn 1 Cr package quite early in your career - and if you are an engineer - i will suggest you to pursue MS from a good university in US. Those one crore packages you keep reading about are usually foreign/international placements. Top B Schools like IIMA, IIMB, FMS and XLRI provide this kind of salaries - but then again please keep in mind that only a handful of people from the batch gets this salary. Domestic placements at IIMs do not exceed 50–60 lakhs. Moreover those kind of packages are provided only at old IIMs like A/B/C/L and only to top few students of the batch.

In my opinion, search for your desired profile, the money would definitely follow.
