Is it worth spending in Nirma Institute of Law for NRI seat for BCOM LLB?
Absolutely.
It is indeed one of the best five year integrated programs of the country. The curriculum is unique with enrichment courses as well as Internship break. But that is of minor importance, a college is as good as the community of students that are part of it. And ILNU has one of the most vibrant student community in India.
We have a tradition of working hard. And partying harder. The senior lot in the library can be relied on to give you the best academic advice from everything to getting a PPO at the best law firm. The people on ground can get you to the university team, or our own premier league (Football and Cricket) as well as other reputed sports. (Swimmers, don't join ILNU). There is photography club, the movie club, writing center, theater etc. Ask for anything and our college has it.
The student culture is very active with every saturday and sunday some or other conference, workshop, competitions, fests happening across the NU campus and within the institution as well.
Some important things for law students to keep in mind are:
1. Library and E-Resources
ILNU has a well stocked library and not only do you have access to this, but also to every library at different branchesin NU campus. You also have access to various other leading libraries in India, including the ILI library in New Delhi.
On the point of E-Resources, the library subscribes to a vast range of E-Resources which you can access on campus as well as off-Campus through remote access after 2nd year.
2. Moot. Debate and MUN's.
ILNU has a very active presence across all three circuits.
- It has been winning moots here and there and their is a good chance of winning something in every moot they participate. If I start listing the winnings, the list will be big indeed. [Update: This is about 2015–16]
- ILNU is a pretty popular name among debating circuits nowadays with our students making a mark or making there presence felt in nearly every debate competition. Connaissance the annual debating fest of ILNU has grown to become one of the most popular events in the debating circuits. Achievements are dropping left and right in debate as well.
- MUN's is also pretty popular in ILNU, and it has pretty much gained a reputed place among the MUNners as well.
3. Research.
Most important for law students, ILNU encourages that, you have ample resources and the library is full of good souls willing to guide you anytime. Just walk up to a senior.
4. Placement.
There is good chance that you will be placed comfortably somewhere if you really work hard. I will not advice you to join ILNU just for placements. The reason is when you enter law you will realise that it is fairly easy to get placed by doing things a certain way and law school doesn't matter. It is your work which matters. People who deduced placements is guara
