Is it worth to do pharm d in India ? Does it have better job opportunities for a girl candidate?
Hi,
I hope you are doing well.
Please do not take pharmD in India.
pharmD (doctor of pharmacy) is a highly reputed course which is of 6 years (5+1) . The intention of this proffessional course in American countries was to provide health care with clinical pharmacists (phamacists with great clinical knowledge) , as a well trained pharmacist and in some other sectors. And it working well in all English countries if you have their own degree.
However in India PCI (pharmacy council of India) had established this course back in 2008 without any future vision , like India needs pharmD's in healthcare but they did not approve any government jobs nor promoted them to healthcare for what they deserve to work , instead it's a devastating thing to say , after paying 10+ lakhs if tution fees with limited hospital knowledge ( as most hospitals concentrate on mbbs and md , not pharmd's ) you graduate and you get jobs what B.pharm graduates would normally get. There are only very very very lass number of hospitals who's aim is betterment in healthcare recruited pharmD's but most others did not.
If you finish pharmD in India and wanna go abroad it's an adventure, There are highly competitive exams like NAPLEX, KAPS, PCEB etc which were already being written by their own students who are well prepared for them. It's not a single step procedure to acquire a license there are several steps and high fees involved in it.
Thank you
