If you want to get a seat in agricultural engineering in NITs or IITs JEE is compulsory to write. You cannot get the seat if you don't write JEE exam.

If JEE mains is needed for admission in agricultural engineering totally depends on the college. For example IIT Kharagpur offers this course and gives admission on the basis of JEE Mains whereas Manipal institute of technology also offers this course but the admission is on the basis of it's own entrance test.

To get into IITs , IIIts and nit. Colleges you should be qualified in the jEE mains and jEE advance.some private colleges also accept the jEE mains .
