Hi,
Yes, KVPY is an aptitude test to be held on November 4. You can apply for SB stream if you're enrolled in the 1st year of undergraduate program in Basic Sciences namely Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics & Biology leading to B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./Int. M.S. during the academic year 2018–19 and have secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in Mathematics and Science subjects (Physics/Chemistry/Biology) in class 12th. In the 1st year final examination you must secure 60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) marks before taking up the fellowship, if awarded.
Since, IISc Bangalore hasn't prescribed any set syllabus for the aptitude test, you will be tested for the syllabus up to 1st year of B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./M.S. as applicable. The exam aims to test the understanding and analytical ability than the factual knowledge.
You must start making study plans and start revising them thoroughly. Get your basics right. Solve as many previous year question papers as possible as they'll make you familiar with the exam pattern, level of questions, marks, duration and much more. For more details, click on KVPY 2018 .
All the best!
