Dear Aspirant! Hope you are doing well!

Actually ,Personal Laptops are not much needed for mechanical students as long as you are in your respective Campus.  It varies from college to college, it's better to ask your faculties or immediate seniors of your college whether it's needed for you or not.

If you have personal interest in coding or you want to settle down with IT companies , then You need to learn different coding languages and different skills like web development, android development ,JAVA, C,C++ and many more then having personal laptop will be a must thing.

Hope it helps! All the best!

hello,

hope You are doing well.

Its depend on you. In mechanical engineering there are many courses  such as Autocad, CREO, Catia, Solidworks, Ansys etc or preparing reports for projects that need computer/laptop. also many of these softwares are not in the curriculum but are used in the industry. So you wants to learn these softwares should not wait for the final year to come but only if you starts from the second year you  will be able to learn and practice them. Therefore a a good laptop is required.

i hope this info help you.

Good luck!
