The Architecture Programmes at LPU are approved by Council of Architecture (COA), a statutory body of the Government of India for the regulation of the architectural education and practice of profession as required.
There is a different school for B.Arch i. e. School of Architecture that provides different programme outcomes from basic to the advanced one. The School inculcates practical implication and goes beyond the conceptual understanding.
The programme is structured in five groups taking care of every dimension of the growing and ever changing design industry viz. Core Courses, Supporting Courses, Skill Development Courses, Management Courses, Elective Courses.
The curriculum is benchmarked against the most renowned institutions of the world and is further strengthened through live design projects which help thorough assimilation of theoretical concepts.
The focus is on application oriented teaching with live architecture design projects, extensive model and field work. LPU believes in providing real life exposure instead of just book knowledge. Students are exposed to real site situations through in house and external visits for visual orientation.
Emphasis is given on the Entrepreneurship projects/Consultancy projects which give cutting edge to the students of the University. The Faculty deputed to teach the students is very supportive and takes initiatives to involve the students in projects for maximum exposure.
Hello,
Of course !! it is one of the best Universities for Architecture in Punjab. I am pursuing B.Arch from LPU and we get a lot of exposure here. LPU put forward ample of opportunities for us for broad engagement with the world and cross-pollination of ideas through unconventional, creative and experimental projects from urban to the nanoscale. We at LPU have the opportunity to build our inborn imagination and natural curiosity into a rewarding professional career including the designs of structures and empty spaces.
To begin with, since its inception, the school of architecture and design has persistently extended its scholastic and research qualities. We have modern labs and workshops where we work on live projects. Recently we did a live project on a children's hospital. These sites are being provided by our faculty members and then we work on the various projects and at the end, we represent all our work to the renowned architectures and get feedback for the improvement.
Not only this, at LPU we all are given the opportunity to work on campus projects. Our school is occupied with achievers. In 2015, our school or architecture and design celebrated its achievement in the biggest architectural event of India “Archostav” in Delhi. Talking about our placement, our alumni Abdul Hazeeb got placed in one of the finest architectural firm of the world, Omar Moujaes architects in Ddubail. Another alumni named Sumanga Upreti is now working as an assistant architect at Kantosekkie, Japan. We have so many pass outs who are today working at good architectural firms. You can find them at LPU website www.lpu.co.in .
Every year, we get a chance to visit the famous architecture of India to learn from the real world. Our school organizes different workshops, seminar and guest lectures for us to listen to renowned architects from worldwide. Our faculty keeps on encouraging knowledgeable discussions inside and outside of the classroom.
Our school has held universal gatherings such as NICHE- a unique annual conference. We are fortunate to be part of this international conference which has indeed provided us with massive exposure. We get more of the practical learning at LPU instead of mere bookish knowledge. Recently, we have won coveted Overall Runners up Trophy at Zonal NASA competitions held in New Delhi, where more than 75 colleges of architecture had participated. Our winning is only due to such exposures which we keep on getting at LPU.
Perhaps, LPU is the only university in India for B.Arch which provides such exposure
