For becoming a successful marine engineer one can do the following courses-
1. BTech in Marine engineering- This is a 4 year course which is run by many maritime colleges in India both government and private. List of colleges along with the fees and entrance exams is given in the following link- https://engineering.careers360.com/colleges/list-of-be-btech-in-marine-engineering-colleges-in-india
2. DME- This is the course of 2 years. Diploma in marine engineering is for those students who have done diploma in mechanical engineering.

Some colleges for pursuing GME are-

Now for placement, one needs to posses a sponsorship from a shipping company otherwise it becomes difficult to get a job.
Once a marine engineer (fresher) becomes a chief engineer he/she opens new doors of opportunities of jobs on land. One can become a marine lecturer in any maritime institutes (full time or part time). Again their are many jobs in various shipping companies as Technical Superintendent , Surveyor etc. There are many government jobs also available.
I hope it helps.
