Marine engineers are responsible for the maintenance of all major equipments of a ship. They are also responsible for the operations of vessels like power generation, electricity , fuel , lubrication , etc.

You can say that marine engineering is allied of mechanical engineers. In marine engineering , the engineers main focus is on equipments of ship, boats ,etc.

Marine engineering is a specialized mechical field. Just like aeronautical or automibile engineering, marine is just a specialized trade.

A marine engineer can call himself a mechanical engineer but vice versa is not possible.

Mechanical engineering is the application of the principles and probably solving techniques of engineering from design to manufacturing to the marketplace for any object.
