Hii,

Although mathematics is not a prerequisite subject for taking up a bachelor's course in microbiology but you need to have a basic knowledge of mathematics. In microbiology stream, you have to prepare media and chemicals with appropriate concentration, which requires basic mathematics.

Many times using mathematics, you have to determine the number of cells, the volume of the cell, number of molecules in a cell, length of DNA, the copy number of DNA, radioactivity etc.

Hope you get an idea.

Hello Aspirant,

Hope you are doing great. In terms of planning experiments, data mining, testing hypotheses, and visualizing relationships, microbiology is a rich field for illustrating the significance of mathematics. The candidate for a BSc in Microbiology must have completed class 12 in the science stream from an accredited institution and board. Chemistry, biology, and physics should be required subjects, and math and English can be added as electives.
