Is Meghnand Shah engineering college in West Bengal good for civil engineering ? Is it woth it ?
Meghnad Saha College of Engineering in West Bengal is one of the better Engineering Colleges under WBJEE after JU, UCCT Kalyani, Heritage, IEM, Techno India and HIT Haldia. The institute has good infrastructure and faculty but doesnt enjoy a good Employer Outlook. However, there are standard placements in Non Core with TCS, Cognizant, Capgemini, Wipro and several Mass Recruiters taking students with a median package anywhere between 3-4 LPA. However many remain unplaced or get placed through Off Campus in Kolkata and nearby IT Hubs at Salt Lake and New Town.
Meghnad Saha Engineering College has a good tradition of students preparing for GATE and moving on to higher technical institutes like IITs and NITs for Masters as well as to Good PSUs with jobs.
As far as Civil is concerned, I would advise you not to expect great career prospects, but do concentrate on studies, prepare for GATE and move on to Top IITs and NITs for Masters or Institutes like NICMAR Pune for a PGDM or perhaps directly prepare for CAT/XAT/MAT and plan an MBA in future. Almost all PSUs which open for Civil and Mechanical Engineering hence you even have an opportunity there.
