MNNIT Allahabad is a government funded national Institute, and one among the national importance institutes in India.  Motilal Nehru National Institute of  Technology was initially funded by both the Union and State of Uttar Pradesh Governments,  in 2007 MNNIT renamed and recognised as NIT,  since then the institute has been funded by the Union government.
