MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology (MSRIT), is an autonomous, private Engineering college that is affiliated to the Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), which is headquartered in BelgaumAlthough, VTU awards degrees, the college is free to frame its curricula and schemes of study. The college offers various undergraduate programmes in diverse streams like civil engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, biotechnology, and medical electronics. It also offers MCA and MTech in different streams, in addition to providing research programmes in various departments that lead to PhD/MSc (Engineering).

MS Ramaiah University of applied sciences is a completely independent university approved by UGC. It was established in year 2013 and has a completely different education system from VTU affiliated colleges. You might get confused with MSRIT which is VTU affiliated and follows VTU cirriculum.
