Hello Aspirant

Firstly, you should choose your career based on your interests and preferences. If you are passionate towards what you do then you will eventually succeed in that field.

Naturopathy is based on the body’s own healing ability, and thus promotes self-cleansing, repair, and healing. Focusing on the immune, hormonal, nervous and detoxification/elimination systems of the body can attain the process. Once these systems are in balance, the body can once again achieve homeostasis. Thus naturopathy’s core focus is on maintaining the homeostasis and achieving homeostasis when it is disturbed.

Naturopathy practitioners, thus, focus on and work closely with the patient’s own unique set of symptoms, reactions, and status – the treatment protocols and methods are highly personalized. The patient’s own biochemistry, biomechanics, and emotional predispositions are promoted to fight illness.

A career in naturopathy offers many opportunities to the practitioner for earning money as well as reputation. As this career falls under the spectrum of medicine and health, it earns respect in the society; but this career is yet to fully recognized in the society. In India, there are a handful of colleges on naturopathy offering courses at various levels – diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate. Licensed Naturopathic Physicians, however, have to complete a four-year program at the graduate level. Areas of study may include nutrition therapy, acupuncture, homeopathic medicine, natural childbirth, and herbal/botanical medicine etc. Naturopathy is often practiced in relation with other forms of alternative medicines such as Reiki, homoeopathy, acupuncture etc. the advices provided by naturopaths are focused on health-enhancing behaviors, e.g., exercise quit smoking, eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, practice good nutrition, etc.

In India, naturopaths are appointed in government as well as private hospitals and health centres. They can also start their own venture where there us a need for such options or in any metropolitan city across the country. Naturopathy is increasingly gaining popularity in all countries across the world, including India, among people who wish to escape the various side effects and symptoms caused by the prevailing system of medicine. Hence the scope of employment in this sphere is broadening. Naturopaths generally earn more in their own ventures or clinics. The earnings vary; depending on the number of clients they see everyday. Self-employed naturopaths(freshers) earn in the range of Rs. 10,000–Rs.20,000 per month. Some naturopaths are also absorbed in private and government hospitals depending upon the strength. They are paid more or less Rs.10,000 per month In developed countries like UK and US the salary range varies between USD 15,000–25,000 per annum.
Thus a career in naturopath is a good choice if you are inclined towards it. This field requires a lot of study and qualifications to practice and can be tiresome. Overall the job growth of the field is positive and fast-paced as the world is becoming more organic.

I hope that I have answered your questions, if you have any further doubts, please feel free to ask in the comments section.

best of luck!
