Naturopathy is practiced in many countries and is subject to varying levels of control and acceptance. The scope of practise varies widely between jurisdictions. Naturopathy practise is illegal in two U.S. states.

States which explicitly prohibit the practise of naturopathy: South Carolina and Tennessee.

Naturopathy is not governed by the United Kingdom. In 2012, publicly funded colleges in the United Kingdom discontinued their alternative medicine services, including naturopathy.
