Now coming back to your question that is NCERT sufficient for IIT JEE and Main or not?

Before this answer me a question.

Are you clear with basics of subjects and topics of 11th and 12th?

If you are already good with basics then NCERT is sufficient for VITEE and also for JEE Main and JEE Advanced but for JEE Advanced you have to refer to some other tough books for problem solving and higher concepts too.

See, what i have seen generally is that in NCERT, there is not enough explanation if someone is beginning his/her some topics and there are many things which you might find not relevant toVIT exam or  JEE exam and those are for board but if you are done with some basics, you can totally rely on NCERT and  infact it can fetch you good marks.

Having said that you must not ignore the problem solving part and for this you will have to refer some goods books which are very popular in market and suitable for you.

NCERT Books were considered to be a standard reference books for most of the competitive examination you can't say them as sufficient source but the concepts you acquire there said to be sufficient to tackle most of the concept based numericals in competitive examinations such as VITEEE.
