Questions(MCQs)  in VIT exams are generally very conceptual but easy.

From my personal experience, I would say, though all the topics will be from NCERT, but it's safe to read some more books as well, specially the biotechnology chapters on your 12 th biology text book.

Hello student NCERT is very help for clearing the concepts but the number of questions are not much in ncert for practice so you need to refer some practice books.
Prefer NCERT to build your basic concept and make sure you do each and every example and exercise questions of Ncert before jumping to a reference book after completing ncert thoroughly refer to your coaching material or any reference book as mentioned below.
