Is Ncert enough for NEET Examination?
NEET 2024: Cutoff (OBC, SC, ST & General Category)

NEET 2025: Syllabus | Most Scoring concepts | NEET PYQ's (2015-24)
Study the concepts in depth, don't read superficially.
Try to clock 100 hours a week.
Maintain your health
Sleep is crucial, else you'll get exhausted before time.
Form a study group, discuss with friends
Stay motivated.
No pain no gain, you won't get this opportunity again. Make the most of it.
Do not waste time, invest time.
Revisions are the most important
It is said that hand written notes are well remembered than printed material, make your own notes, keep reading it again and again.
The best books you can refer to are the NCERT,
For biology, refer the following.
1) Trueman's Biology vol 1 and vol 2
2) Dinesh- Objective biology
3) Pradeep publication Biology
4) GRB'S Publication Biology.
For Physics refer to he following books.
1) H.C.Verma - Concepts of Physics.
2) D.C Pandey - Objective Physics.
3) Fundamentals of physics by Walker
4) Problems in Physics by I.E.Irodov
For chemistry you can refer the following books
1) O.P Tandon - Physical Chemistry
2) Morrison and Boyd - Organic Chemistry
3) Modern ABC's of chemistry
4) J.D.Lee Inorganic chemistry
5) Dinesh
Ncerts are mandatory to have, refer the rest of the books and find out which one suits you. I would advice you not to buy all the books but to refer them and see which one is better for you.
In the end it doesn't depend upon which book is better but how good can you understand the concepts
Also, for the general knowledge subscribe magazines, they will be useful.
Hope this helps.
Goodluck!
For Biology Strictly Follow the NCERT.
Read it line by line as about 75-80 questions every year are asked from Ncert only.
For Chemistry and physics,
Clear your all basic concept, no need to go for lengthy and tough questions. Questions which clears your concept. Questions based on formula can be helpful. For Inorganic Chemistry, specifically follow Ncert notes as most of questions can be easily covered.
Do practice last year's questions papers. They helps one to know the pattern and type of questions been asked.
All the best..
I will tell you based on my experience. Pattern is varying every year. However the baseline remains the same. In 2015 AIPMT (cancelled one) had difficulty level above expected due to which the cutoffs were expected to be low. In that paper, questions asked were 60% from NCERT and 40% were the ones which were not from NCERT. In the rescheduled AIPMT most of the questions were from NCERT. In 2016, in NEET 1, paper was of the same level as of rescheduled AIPMT 2015. In NEET 2, the chemistry section especially inorganic and organic portion was quite difficult and out of NCERT.
Bottomline is that your base should always be NCERT. Your concepts must be crystal clear from NCERT. However, you cannot expect all 180 questions to be asked straight from NCERT as that will lead to the absurd difficulty level. What happens most of the time is that we study from NCERT and miss (skip) a lot of important points. Let me tell you subjectwise.
PHYSICS
Concepts are the core of this subject. How much problems you have solved, if your concepts in this subject are not clear, you will be having a hard time on the exam. For concepts, you can study NCERT but it gets boring with time (all blue you know.)
I personally read theory from Resnik-Halliday. It gives a realistic view and helps in understanding physics. For numerical, there is a wide range of books available, however, to solve the examples and exercise questions of NCERT as many times questions are straightaway asked from them. Apart from that there are coaching modules, DC Pandey, HC Verma etc.
You can check the NEET Answer Key of previous papers through the link.
CHEMISTRY
90% portion covered is of NCERT. NCERT should be the primary focus in this subject. However, do practice questions from coaching modules/Dinesh (objective) /O P Tandon.
BIOLOGY
Again, out of 90 questions, nearly 70 are from NCERT. However, it is not necessary that you will get the answers to those 70 correctly. By and large on average, if you have studied properly, you will get 60 questions correctly. Let me make it clear that I am not demotivating you, but just making an average assumption of my experience.
Now here comes the point of those 30 questions which account for 120 crucial marks. Here is where competition arises. For these 30 questions, study very carefully and precisely. Go through your coaching notes, take the guidance of teachers, know what the crucial topics are.
You are not doing PhD so there is no need to study every topic in detail. Human and plant physiology and ecology are very important topics. Never miss them at any cost. And do remember mnemonics of important things. They help a lot in exams.
All the Best.
