Is NCERT enough for scoring well in NEET?(600+) If not which books should be added to the list?
NEET 2024: Cutoff (OBC, SC, ST & General Category)
NEET 2024 Admission Guidance: Personalised | Study Abroad
NEET 2025: Syllabus | Most Scoring concepts | NEET PYQ's (2015-24)
Partially NO!!!
Because NEET covers 80-85% syllabus from NCERT only so it would be better if you focus on that first properly as these are very helpful to make all the concepts strong and clear and once these are done you can refer other books like -
Physics 1. The Concept of Physics by HC Verma 2. Objective Physics by Prof. Satya Prakash Arya (MTG Publishers) 3. Concepts of Competition Physics For CBSE PMT by Agarwal 4. NCERT Physics by Anil Aggarwal.
Biology 1. Moderns ABC of Biology for XI & XII – B. B. Arora, A. K. Sabharwal- Modern Publishers 2. Exploring Biology (Vol 1 & 2) – Sanjay Sharma & Sudhakar Banerjee – Arihant Publications 3. Objective Biology (Vol 1, 2 & 3) – K. N. Bhatia / K. Bhatia – Dinesh Publications 4. Medical Entrances Biology (Vol 1, 2 & 3) – Mamta R. Solanki & Lalita Ghotik – Target Publications.
Chemistry 1. Physical Chemistry by OP Tandon (G. R. Bathla Publications) 2. Objective Chemistry (Set of 3 Vols) (S. Dinesh & Co.) 3. Modern’s ABC of Chemistry (Part 1 & 2) 4. Organic Chemistry by Himanshu Pandey (GRB Publication).
Hope this helps!!!
NEET syllabus is basically from NCERT prescribed textbooks. Most people use other books to practice questions as NCERT textbooks have only limited questions.
- First, you should be thorough with the NCERT prescribed textbooks. In physics and chemistry, ensure that you understand the solved examples. The analogy in the answers are similar for answering NEET questions. In biology, every word is important because about 80-85% of the questions are quite direct. The textbooks present the basic concepts, if you're not clear with it, the reference books are not going to help because they build on these basics.
- For reference books,
1) I can recommend Pradeep's Objective Textbooks for all the three subjects for the questions, as practice.
2) For conceptual understanding, you may use HC Verma's Concepts for physics, Modern ABC's textbooks for physics and chemistry and Dinesh's Objective textbook for Biology.
- Towards the end of your preparation, I recommend that you solve papers as mock exams and learn time management as you do so (I can't give one definite method as everybody has different tactics). Also analyse your papers; I used to write the page[for biology] and the concept[for physics and chemistry] next to each question as a review.
