Dear student,
Are you clear with basics of Organic Chemistry ?
If you are already good with basics then NCERT is sufficient for JEE Main part and also for JEE Advanced but for JEE Advanced you have to refer to some other tough books for problem solving and higher concepts too.
See, what i have seen generally is that in NCERT, there is not enough explanation if someone is beginning his/her organic chemistry, and there are many things which you might find not relevant to JEE exam and those are for board but if you are done with some basics, you can totally rely on NCERT and infact it can fetch you good marks.
Having said that you must not ignore the problem solving part and for this you will have to refer some goods books which are very popular in market like Balaji publications Organic Chemistry.
I hope this answer helps you.
All the very best!!
Dear Aspirant,
You have to study several topics in Organic Chemistry. For your reading and concept, you can study NCERT books. But you should study other books to gain clear knowledge about the exam patterns. The topics are listed below.
- Basic Principles of Organic Chemistry.
- Common types of organic reactions.
- Electronic displacement in a covalent bond.
- Organic Compounds Containing Oxygen.
- Organic Compounds Containing Halogens.
- Polymers.
- Chemistry in Everyday Life.
- Bio-Molecules.
- Principles Related to Practical Chemistry.
You can go for some author's books listed below.
- Organic Chemistry by OP Tandon.
- The modern approach to chemical calculations by R.C. Mukherjee.
- Organic Chemistry by Peter Sykes.
- Advanced Problems in Organic Chemistry by M. S. Chouhan.
- Organic Chemistry by T. W. Graham Solomons, etc.
All the best.
Hello Aspirant,
See NCERT is considered as must have book for all subjects Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry, now if I have to particularly specify for Organic chemistry then NCERT is good to understand the concepts, different reactions, mechanisms but in organic chemistry we need practice of writing different reactions and deep understanding of all chemical formulas so NCERT does not provide that much questions to practice therefore you should have some reference book as well with NCERT hence I am enlisting down some best books for preparation of JEE-Main 2022 for Chemistry as well as other subjects :-
@Chemistry
Modern Approach to Chemical Calculations-RC Mukherjee
Organic Chemistry-Solomons and Fryhle
Concise Inorganic-J. D. Lee
Organic Chemistry-Morrison and Boyd
University Chemistry-Freedman and Young
Physical Chemistry-N Awasthi
Arihant's Practice Book Chemistry for JEE Main And Advanced-R.K Gupta
@Physics
Concepts of Physics-H. C. Verma
Fundamentals of Physics-Halliday, Resnick and Walker
Problems in General Physics-I. E. Irodov
University Physics-Freedman and Young
Understanding JEE physics series-DC Pandey
Problem In Physics-SS Krotov
@Mathematics
Higher Algebra-Hall and Knight
Coordinate Geometry-S.L. Loney
Differential and Integral Calculus-N. Piskunov
Calculus and Analytic Geometry-Thomas and Finney
IIT Mathematics for JEE Main & Advanced-M.L. Khanna
Course in Mathematics for IIT-JEE-Tata McGraw Hill publication
