Hello Deepthi,
Yes one year is sufficient for preparation if you do hard work and study regularly.
Here are some tips for how to prepare for CAT.

Hii Deepthi..Yes ofcourse it is.
You have a lot of time in your hand. And, CAT is not that tough to crack as it is made out to be.
Here are some points, as per my experience, which may help you:
- Coaching is as essential as self study, as we get to learn various time saving techniques to solve problems, which we might never be aware of. I believe TIME will take care of that. Do not put on hold your revision of concepts for another day, do it immediately after classes and complete the relevant exercises that day itself.
-
I will not recommend buying other study materials apart from the TIME study material, as it is quite enough to grasp the concepts. For practice, you should resort to online CAT mock tests for different topics. There are many websites which provide free demo classes as well as topic wise tests. Or you can check Youtube videos on CAT questions. Online studying is more interesting than going through different books.
- Don't devote more than 2-3 hours a day. It may backfire. Studying all the time will not make you more productive. Understanding of core concepts will.
- Don't devote all the time on a single section, especially your favorite one. Get to know your weak areas, and work more on them.
- I assume that you are good in English, and Quant, considering your engineering background. So, to avail more benefits, learn some tricks of Vedic Mathematics to calculate faster. If you learn to handle calculations faster, it will be very handy in DI. Also, you can try to increase your reading speed. Read newspaper editorials. It will also help you in your preparation for further rounds in MBA admission.
- Join some other test series, preferably of CL.
- Take mocks seriously. And give equal time to analyse your mistakes and areas where you could have done better. There will be times when you will not perform up to your expectations. Don't fret. Don't lose confidence. It will affect your subsequent mocks. Just strive to be better with a positive mind. DO PAY EMPHASIS ON ANALYSIS OF MOCK PAPER.
CAT is much easier than mock tests, which have higher difficulty. It is all about focus and right aptitude. And how you handle yourself on the big day, is as important as preparing for it. Stay positive and good luck.
Hope this helps you. All the best.
Generally 6 dedicated months are enough.
But in 1 year you can cover more aspects and go deeper into practicing stuff. Plus you can excel well in GD and PI with all the effort that you put in the year you gave for Cat.
So go for it. Join a coaching institute they will help you to be on track. And fasten up the process for you.
Hope this helps.
