Yes as per the criteria of CBSE board, the passing marks are set for 33% so if you are securing at least 33% marks in any subject then you are considered to be pass. So if you have secured 33 marks out of 100 in Mathematics subject of class 12th then you will be considered as pass.

Each subject of CBSE Class 12th Board Examination is for 100 Marks. Out of that, a student must score at least 33 Marks to get pass.
If a student for whatever reasons not able to get at least 33 Marks then he/she is declared to be failed in that particular subject.
If unfortunately this happens with a student, he have an opportunity to appear for NIOS Class 12th re-examination conducted for such students who unfortunately wasn't able to pass in 12th Exam. In NIOS, you have to give only that particular subject in which you have failed and then a new Marksheet will be formed including the marks of all subjects and the subject for which you appeared for NIOS.
